’A Lad in a Manger’ - the alternative Nativity

In 2010 it was decided that, together with the Parishes of St Peter's and St Andrew's, we would have a go at producing a Pantomime, and Fr David came up with a script from Michael Foster which seemed to fit the bill.

Rehearsals began in September, and despite a few cast changes along the way, we were soon getting in the swing of it, helped very ably by Ian, Andie, Terrie and David from Ramsgate Operatic Society, who taught us some of the 'tricks of the trade'. (Just as well, we'd never have got there on our own!)

By the time of the dress rehearsal in January we were getting the hang of it, and most people (especially Rover the donkey) were word-perfect. The opening night went well - must have been the dignitaries in the audience that helped - and by Saturday's performances we were performing like the stars we thought we should be!

A lot of fun was had both during the rehearsals and the performances, and I think we all now appreciate how much hard work goes in to making it look easy.Panto 3

The 'Three Wise Guys', pictured left, almost stole the show with their song and dance routine, and I'm sure they will spring to mind every time we hear the words 'led by a star' at Christmas in the future.
